Metallurgical Coal Australia
Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.

Job Description

Reporting to the IPOM Manager (Integrated Planning and Operating Model), you will be accountable for providing support in the delivery of key Business Improvement initiatives as per the Aquila Underground Mine Plan and aid Site Business Improvement teams and Project Leaders in the delivery of both tactical (project) and operational (continuous improvement) site projects.

Further to this, you will play a key role in identifying improvement opportunities for the business by using your strong analytical skills to interpret site data. You will achieve your accountabilities through effective self-management, leadership and coaching of teams and effective engagement and influencing of internal stakeholders and senior leaders.

This role will focus on the overall implementation and tracking of the site Business Improvement initiatives, ensuring the projects comply with the necessary standards and governance frameworks.

Qualifications

  • You will be tertiary qualified in Business, Engineering or related discipline
.
  • Have demonstrated experience in operating in a similar role within the mining industry.
  • Additional qualifications such as Lean Six Sigma, CA, CPA or MBA would be viewed favourably.
  • You will bring with you the ability to apply analytical and quantitative skills in a complex environment.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills is essential as is previous experience extracting financial and KPI data from SAP systems.
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control and development of Control Charts and Capability Histograms is essential.

Additional information

This is a 5/2, Monday – Friday roster based at our Aquila Underground Mine in Middlemount, QLD. This role is suitable for both DIDO and residential options with subsided accommodation included. Alternatively FIFO is also supported for this role.
