AWS is leading the next paradigm shift in computing and the AWS Public Sector team is looking for an experienced sales leader to manage a highly talented sales team focused on driving revenue, adoption, and market penetration across the Education sector.


The ideal candidate will possess a sales management background that enables them to lead a team of senior enterprise sales representatives with engagements at the CxO level, manage a sales pipeline, and lead sales efforts that will include teaming with AWS Sales Representatives, Solutions Architects, and Partners across the Education sector. He/she should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions while working cross-organizationally to build consensus.


The remit for this role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Leading and managing a team of account managers.
  • Developing and executing a short, medium and long term business plan.
  • Meeting and exceeding individual and team targets.
  • Serving as a key member of the leadership team, in helping to define and deliver AWS’ overall strategy for the segments.
  • Accelerating customer adoption by identifying specific customer segments and industry verticals in the region to approach with a value proposition for using AWS.
  • Developing long-term strategic relationships with key stakeholders at the C-level.
  • Working closely with the Partner team to ensure that AWS is the partner's preferred cloud computing platform across all service lines.
  • Maintaining an accurate forecast and various business management reports.
  • Creating & articulating compelling value propositions around AWS services.
  • Possessing the technical understanding to explain (not implement) Cloud Computing and associated infrastructure solutions.
  • Preparing and providing business strategies and territory reviews to the senior management team.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication and writing skill with the ability to be both technical and analytical. Possess 10+ years of business development or sales management experience preferably with experience selling to public sector market segments.
  • Strong leadership experience.
  • Must have a good understanding of government procurement and education contract vehicles.
  • Relevant technical knowledge is helpful, such as: database systems, core distributed computing concepts, fundamentals of cloud computing and virtualization, storage systems with ability to go deep enough on technical aspects to differentiate between varied data storage services.
  • A demonstrable capability in understanding the financial and operational aspects of a 'for-profit' organisation is essential.
  • An understanding of the Public Sector, either directly or through a partner who's predominant customers are Public Sector customers.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of software development practices and data center / infrastructure / networking technologies.
• Familiarity with Salesforce.
