About the role
Laing O’Rourke is recruiting a Health & Safety Manager to join our growing business in Melbourne. With an exciting pipeline of major infrastructure projects, it’s a fantastic opportunity to be part of a great team and culture.
You will take the lead responsibility for all HSE aspects and ensure all works are completed in accordance with required contract conditions, standards/regulations and company procedures. Positively influence the HSE culture and performance of bids and projects. You will promote a positive safety culture. You will provide mentoring, coaching and guidance, advice on Safety issues, and identify and facilitate training requirements.
You will have a relevant Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety combined with extensive experience on large scale rail/infrastructure projects, ideally in Australia.
You’ll bring experience in a Safety-focused role – preferably from an Infrastructure background, high-level skills in safety leadership, relationship-building and communication, the ability to manage your own time, work both autonomously and as part of safety function.
You will bring skills in Auditing, Reporting and Risk Management and strong knowledge of Safety legislation. You will bring an appreciation and interest in applying a different safety approach, and actively explore initiatives which boost the capacity of people and organisations to drive a strong safety culture.
