Tax Technical Analyst and Project Lead, Securities Services - Vice President

The Securities Services business in Australia continues to invest heavily in its platform, led by the Product Development team. Given the nuances and complexity of Australian tax law, the tax platform and our tax product capability are very important to our business overall. The Tax Project Lead therefore becomes a crucial role within the overall strategic agenda.

Reporting into the overall lead for Tax and Accounting, the Tax Project Lead will take ownership and drive the agenda for the Tax workstream. This will include managing and executing the project backlogs for the tax engine, working closely with the Product Management team and key partners in Operations and Technology to define and deliver the agenda as prioritised by the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of the ‘tax backlog’ into the tax engine from a Product Development perspective
  • Key subject matter expert relating to the end state tax solutions – internal and client facing
  • Jointly responsible for directing strategy from Product and Operations into tangible solutions
  • Linking operational and business issues, change and projects into overall direction and strategy for the accounting and tax operational teams as well as client facing departments
  • Ownership of the business requirements and design of the Australian technology solutions
  • Liaison with the technology teams throughout the build phase to help resolve development issues
  • Liaison with other project workstreams, particularly Accounting, to ensure that the tax solutions are compatible with other parallel developments within Project Endeavour
  • Liaison with external consultancy to ensure compliance of the solutions to relevant regulations and laws
  • Ownership of the test planning and execution cycles
  • Detailed input to the design of the ‘To-Be’ operating models for the financial accounting and tax teams for Project Endeavour
  • Ownership of the operational engagement for tax processes
  • Resolution and escalation of issues and risk (along with Project Manager) emerging from the workstream
  • Detailed input to workstream and program reporting for the project board and the Endeavour program reporting

To be successful, you will need:

  • Proven experience and track record in the management of complex technical tax projects
  • Detailed technical knowledge of Australian tax law, with ability to practically implement compliant solutions in line with overall architecture and operating model
  • Ability to perform multiple roles across technical subject matter expertise, business analysis and project management
  • Proven ability to liaise directly with clients to implement solutions and to take clients on a transition journey
  • Ability to manage a team, both direct and virtual to execute projects
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and manage risks and issues
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and partners to achieve project objectives
