Electrical Designer - Power

Power infrastructure, networks and storage, and the new frontier of renewable energies such as wind and solar, are essential services that keep our communities and industries going. Our in-house specialist engineers develop designs that consider construction, maintenance and end performance objectives from the outset, reducing whole-of-life costs.

As part of the Engineering group you will contribute to the safe and efficent Electrical Engineering design activities to provide safe, reliable and efficient technical expertise to the business, in line with industry practices and UGL policies.

About the role

  • Ensure the Electrical engineering design effort (i.e. design calculations, drawings, specifications and technical review of the works, etc.) are delivered on time, cost effectively and fit for purpose for the project and business requirements;
  • Develop detailed design drawings using AutoCAD, Microstation and Revit oftware as required;
  • Ensure documentation of appropriate standard is provided to update all relevant Engineering, Operational and Maintenance databases on project completion;
  • Ensure the safety of designs through application of specialist expertise, standards, reviews, risk assessments and risk management; and
  • Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality

About You

You will thrive on stepping up to a problem or an opportunity that inspires new solutions. Ideally you will have\:

  • Tertiary Qualification in such as an Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree within Electrical Engineering;
  • Detailed knowledge of Australian & International codes and standards, good engineering practice and the applicable statutory requirements;
  • Extensive experience working in a major project environment within a multi-disciplinery team;
  • Experience within the Power infrastructure sector working on projects related to Power Generation, Substations, Transmission & Distribution, Solar and Wind; and
  • Excellent general computer literacy skills as well as specialist knowledge of discipline-based applications software.
