The Metallurgical Coal (MetCoal) Analytics Centre, referred to as the “MAC”, is a new centralised hub at the Brisbane Corporate Office, which will service MetCoal Australia operations by providing insights backed by data science and functional experts.
We are seeking a Specialist in Gas and Ventilation to lead in the optimisation of current gas and ventilation practices and identify potential step change improvement opportunities across MetCoal.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary skilled team providing solutions to operational challenges via the use of data and rapid development. Within your area of subject matter expertise, gas and ventilation, you will utilise your experience in underground coal mining operations to provide insights and value stories to data available from mining operations equipment and instrumentation.
Partnering with Data Scientists, Engineers and other technical teams, you will apply your gas and ventilation expertise to drive quantifiable improvements in mining operations via the use of data.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
- In depth knowledge of Mine Gas Drainage
- An understanding of the coal mining process including mine planning
- In depth knowledge of relevant mining legislation and its application including:
- Gas Drainage Standards;
- Gas management arrangements / techniques which meet the operational requirements;
- Implementation strategies for the integration of technological improvements to the operations;
This is a Monday to Friday position based in Brisbane.
