Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

About the team
The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.
Right now, we have an opportunity for multiple Road Workers to join us in the Regional Maintenance team within the Central West district. You’ll be working within a work crew consisting of a team leader, road workers and plant operators to undertake road widening and maintenance projects.
What you will be involved in
You will be undertaking a range of duties to support the efficient construction and maintenance of road infrastructure within New South Wales. The area of operation will include road maintenance and new construction build activities such as smoothing out roads, safety widening projects and heavy patching works, to name a few.
You’ll have a range of duties across construction and maintenance activities including but not limited to:
- maintenance of established pavements
- construction of new or enhanced pavements
- establishment and maintenance of roadside fixtures and signage
- application of road marking materials
- application of bituminous sealing materials
Road Workers are provided with thorough training and opportunities to develop professionally.
We’re seeking proactive workers in the industry who lives and breathes safety. You will need to have good communication skills and be able to work well in a team.
You are a practical thinker and a quick learner who enjoys being physically active performing outdoor manual tasks involving the use of hand tools and equipment. You hold a White Card, current driver licence, traffic control tickets, and are able to work outside normal working hours, attend call-outs, travel across the district and stay away from home when needed.
Holding an MR truck license is advantageous or previous experience performing civil construction work (not essential).
Wage and Benefits
The wage for this position is Road Worker Grade 1-3 ($1132.20 - $ 1193.09) per week plus superannuation and relevant allowances as per the Award.
