Located in Parkville (Australia) and part of the R&D Technical Development team, this is a full time permanent position. The successful candidate will be part of the team that provides a high level of scientific expertise in immunology and virology to support innovation within this department. The role of Senior Scientist requires the capability to plan, perform, evaluating and reporting scientific experiments in line with departmental objectives. You will also be expected to provide scientific leadership and contribute to team activities as required. Additional responsibilities include supporting the maintenance of facilities, systems and equipment used by the Technical Development group to ensure compliance, and the provision of scientific guidance and training less experienced scientists.
To be successful in this role you will have
- in-depth conceptual and practical expertise in the areas of (but not limited to) immunology, virology and molecular biology
- Extensive experience in cell culture and virology
- Experience in bioinformatics, assay development or molecular analytical tools is desirable
- highly developed analytical and lab skill set with experience in a wide range of virological and immunological techniques.
You will use your strong writing skills and attention to detail to deliver clear and concise reports to your internal customers to enable them to achieve the required business outcomes. You are a team player with excellent time management skills enabling you to prioritise and cope well under pressure to meet the required timelines.
A graduate degree in biological sciences or related discipline, with laboratory experience is required. A MSc/PhD and relevant industry experience is favourable. You will have a thorough understanding of the requirements for GxP, OGTR and DAWE.
