The work of our Roadside Network Engineers is varied with roughly 70% of work being project focused and the location of work varying day-to-day.
The Roadside Network team works across Transurban's portfolio from our corporate office at Chifley Square to a variety of onsite locations including the NorthConnex tunnel, the new M5 motorway, the M4-M5 link, and even from the comfort of your own home as we embrace a culture of flexible working.
Partnering with ITS Operations, ITS Engineers, Project teams, and third-party providers, the Roadside Network team is responsible for supporting and maintaining the networks that support core functions and ensure their continued high availability and safety of our customers and staff.
The impact you'll have
  • You'll provide ongoing day-to-day second and third level support of the network actioning incidents and service requests whilst ensuring procedures are adhered to and SLAs are met
  • You'll provide ongoing improvements to the network and ensure measurable increases to efficiencies with a focus on automation and simplification where possible
  • You'll plan, manage and execute changes to the network segments in accordance with the Change Management procedure and help to peer review changes as needed
  • You'll help to develop detailed designs and recommendations for Projects in line with the primary requirements of high availability, network security and simplicity
  • You'll work as part of various project teams, attend project meetings and provide regular status updates to Project Managers and other key stakeholders

Although similar experience within an operational technology environment is highly desired, we understand this is a unique role. We're looking for someone who wants to grow and learn with us over time:
  • To be successful in this role you'll need to be reliable, self-motivated and able to handle the challenges of a varied role which includes interacting with a wide variety of stakeholders across often a geographically dispersed team
  • You'll bring advanced configuration knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, and wireless and in security products such as Check Point and Palo Alto
  • You'll have the ability to identify tasks and break down activities required to meet customer requirements and to set goals and priorities in line with business objectives
  • You'll have demonstrable knowledge of upcoming network trends such as SDWAN, Orchestration/Automation tooling, IOT, and others
  • Prior experience dealing with mission critical, safety critical or SCADA systems would be highly desired
