You are a hardworking and focused lawyer experienced in Australian Consumer Finance law, including National Consumer Credit Code, and AFSL and Australian Credit Licence obligations, who thrives on providing superior legal advice in an effective, efficient and timely manner.
What you will be doing
As a Senior Legal Counsel in NAB’s Personal Banking team, you will provide expert legal services on issues specific to NAB’s Personal Bank Product and Distribution business units. In this challenging and rewarding role, your overarching responsibility is to provide high quality legal advice, ensuring the organisation operates within prescribed legal limits and community expectations, and appropriately manages its risk, in the development and implementation of products and services.
What you will bring
You will have a Bachelor of Laws qualification, and:
- Have 8 + years PQE
- Be admitted to practice as a Barrister or Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria, with a current practicing certificate
- Have experience with financial services regulation
- Bring pragmatism and a strong customer focus
Ideally you’ll have a strong knowledge of Australian Consumer Finance law, including National Consumer Credit Code, and AFSL and Australian Credit Licence obligations, as well as regulation and licensing of credit representatives.

The Personal Bank Legal team is responsible for providing legal support across the ‘product lifecycle’ - developing, building, marketing and distributing of consumer products (including credit products and insurance). Supporting a variety of business units, including our Everyday Banking and Digital, the team is a valued partner to the business, pro-actively managing legal risk within a changing regulatory environment.
