Commercial Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial or Category Manager to join our Better Buying team!

The Better Buying team is a newly created function within the Merchandising division of Endeavour Drinks. The team consists of two streams: Trade Investment and Pricing.

This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne and reports to the Head of Better Buying & Pricing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Subject matter expert on category and supplier costs in order to advise Buying teams on opportunities to optimise trade investment, coaching through negotiations and interpret commercial data
  • Develop and maintain supplier profitability and cost models to inform Buying and Finance teams
  • Quantify and prioritise the opportunity in strategic tenders, and support through detailed negotiation packs
  • Facilitate vendor negotiations through specific materials such as vendor background research and fact-based quantification of opportunities and offers
  • Develop, update and make ongoing improvements to the Trade Investment toolkit of insights and support negotiation packs and narrative for the Buying team
  • Support the review, validation and negotiation of Supplier Cost Price Requests to the Buying Team, including an understanding of government excise and container desposit schemes by State
  • Help foster a culture of continual improvement

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as finance, commerce/business, economics or similar, with Commercial experience and Retail exposure (highly valued)
  • Strong analytical experience including the ability to understand and interpret commercial data
  • Sound commercial acumen - analysis, insights and recommendations, with the ability to build relationships, influence and empower stakeholders at all levels across our business
  • Familiarity with Endeavour merchandising systems (eg. SAP, scan database) would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Ability to prioritise, deliver to tight deadlines and thrive in a challenging environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Intermediate PowerPoint skills
  • A desire to challenge the status quo, drive change and truly contribute to our future growth
