About the role

Due to an internal promotion, we have a rare opportunity for a Tax Manager to join the team based out of our corporate head office in North Sydney. The role will assist the Head of Tax with all operational tax matters in relation to direct and indirect taxes for the UGL Group and related Joint Ventures. The role will\:

  • Monitor and control the compliance timetable and lodgement of all tax requirements for the UGL Group
  • Review and consolidate tax effect accounting, income tax calculations, ATO schedules, GST, FBT and other indirect taxes for all UGL Divisions and Joint Ventures.
  • Assess and improve systems and controls within the Tax function and ensure compliance with Tax Office/CIMIC reporting requirements
  • Point of Contact for ATO and Government Agencies on compliance matters, including monitoring audit activity, reviews and information requests
  • Provide advice to the Business covering all areas of taxation, taxation research, and keeping abreast of changes that impact the Business
  • Supporting the Head of Tax with ad-hoc taxation advisory matters, such as special projects, transaction reviews and taxation research on legislative changes
  • Management and development of 2 tax team staff members

About you

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a corporate taxation role. Ideally your experience will be gained from a Chartered accounting firm plus 3-4 years of in-house tax team experience within a large organisation
  • Experience in all areas of tax compliance, including tax consolidation, income tax and tax effect accounting
  • A solid understanding and experience managing indirect tax such as GST, FBT and other related tax work in an in-house tax team environment
  • Experience in undertaking Tax office reviews/audits, providing tax advice to the Business and researching taxation issues to articulate an opinion to support a tax position
