Senior Associate - Public Sector

The role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Associate to join our Public Sector Corporate team located in Canberra, with Angie Freeman. You will be working in a busy practice in a national firm with a diverse range of clients, including government agencies and private sector entities. You will work on complex legal transactions, supervise other lawyers and second-counsel advice. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated team player who will help grow the practice.

This busy and varied senior role will see you have the opportunity to advise on a broad range of high profile, complex and sensitive ICT and services projects. You will be advising on a wide range of commercial, contracting, procurement, corporate and probity matters.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • proven experience in public sector procurement and contracting, preferably with experience in complex ICT transactions
  • exceptional technical skills
  • superior written and verbal expression skills and an aptitude for reshaping and expressing complex concepts in a concise way
  • a naturally collegiate mindset which prioritises respect for peers and collaborative working

In addition to this, we're looking for a resilient, self-starter. Someone who is able to work autonomously and is focused on attention to detail and providing outstanding service to our clients.

The Public Sector team

Our National Public Sector group is widely regarded to be the premier private government practice in Australia and has a wealth of industry-leading practitioners, talent and experience within the team.

Our public sector (corporate) team advises a wide range of government agencies on some of their most complex and sensitive programs, from project inception through to transition and contract management. We use our skills to solve complex legal problems, assist with the development and implementation of program strategy, and inform policy development.
