Come and join us at Xero! Due to ongoing growth, we are looking for multiple experienced People Leads to join our distributed Subscription and Billing team in Auckland, Wellington, or Melbourne!

Who’s the team?

The Subscription & Billing domain is made up of three pillars -- Revenue for invoicing and payments, Experience for subscription management tailored to external subscribers and internal customer support team, and Growth for entering new markets with localised experiences and expanding existing markets with diversified products.
Each pillar contains one or two cross-functional pods with a business analyst, engineers, and quality assurance staff. There is a leadership triad in each pillar that includes the Product Owner, Lead Engineer, and People Lead.

What’s the role?

You will be responsible for supporting individuals with their personal growth and evolving cross-functional capability within your pillar. You will lead recruitment, promote team achievements, and foster the growth of a world-class engineering culture. We are keen to hear from anyone with experience in a software development environment who loves to help people grow & empower them to do the best work of their lives.

What you'll do:

  • Encourage and support the professional development of the engineers under your care
  • Engage with the engineers and the processes in the pods you lead to build close relationships and ways of working together.
  • Attract, recruit and retain high performing individuals.
  • Lead growth and performance management in your pillar, in collaboration with your leadership triad.
  • Role-model exemplary leadership, supporting and growing leadership capability for our Xeros.
  • Assist with the development of a world-class engineering culture where engineers have the skills and autonomy needed to build high-quality products and services.
  • Help to cultivate a fun, appreciative, rewarding, innovative and results-driven culture that lives and breathes our Xero values
  • Measure the health of your team, ensuring that all members of your team are empowered to raise ideas and concerns, and that everyone contributes to improvements in how the team works together.
  • Run initiatives designed to improve the overall health and wellbeing of the team you manage.
