About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the ongoing financial management of the HAWK Lead-In Fighter program, ensuring the project team are supported in day to day operations and decision making.
As a Project Accountant you will be an integral member of the team delivering on our successful HAWK Lead-in Fighter 25-year life program.

More specifically, you will become involved in:

  • Maintenance of a robust accounting environment, ensuring accuracy and sound financial controls supporting all activities
  • Open, honest and genuine conversations with stakeholders both internally and externally to derive value from the Commonwealth's investment in its defence capability
  • Proactive problem solving, taking the initiative to identify and resolve issues which may arise
  • Liaison with the project controls group for ledger issues and assisting with the preparation of project annual budgets, quarterly re-forecasting and monthly reporting
  • Preparation of revenue trading, journals and adjustments associated with project reporting
  • Management of cash flow forecasting including foreign exchange management, hedging and reporting
  • Provide detailed, accurate and relevant reporting and commentary on project salient
  • Customer reporting including raising claims, escalation calculations, debtor management and forecasting

About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you will have:

  • A Degree and CPA/CA/CIMA qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in cost base management, with a well-rounded knowledge of aspects of budgeting and forecasting and a with solution oriented and process improvement mindset
  • Well-developed self-management skills, ability to work under his/her own initiative to prioritise and meet deadlines, engaging with stakeholders within and outside of your finance team to deliver business requirements
  • Investigative and problem solving skills, ability to locate discrepancies for reporting and correcting
  • Microsoft Office skills is essential and exposure to Oracle ERP and Hyperion reporting is desirable
