Your Role and Responsibilities
As the Business Development Executive, you will provide the technical leadership across the portfolio required during the pre-qualification on infrastructure sales. Simply stated, your main goal as the Business Development Executive is to bring the very best fully-qualified opportunities forward to an engagement team to drive to contract signature. You will be accountable for both business unit and your specific personal objectives, including contract signings, profit, expense, and customer satisfaction. You will develop the strategies and tactics that will win the business, including teaming arrangement, alliances, subcontractors, competitive strategies, tactics and responses.

This is a permanent role which can be is preferably based in Melbourne, but a Sydney base can be considered.

What will I be doing day to day?
  • Working to understand the client’s business problems and help explore the underlying opportunities for IBM within our Infrastructure services area Bridge from the client’s key business initiatives to a desirable business solution incorporating IT and operational differentiators
  • Apply thought leadership, leveraging business and technical knowledge, to generate client interest
  • Enhance the client’s perception of IBM’s unique value and the competitive and strategic impact on their business
  • Promote IBM as a preferred partner because of our combination of technology, innovation, and business knowledge
  • Help the client understand IT impact on the business metrics and role of IBM Services as an enabler to drive business forward for the client and industry
  • Enhance the client’s perception of IBM’s unique value and the competitive and strategic impact on their business
  • Fully integrate with the Agile Engagement Model (AEM) and aligned with all Services Integration Hub (SIH) processes to ensure our TSMs and extended deal teams are working on only our highest qualified engagements.
  • Identify, grow, and manage the opportunity pipeline to drive signings. Manage to a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Design and implement plans to increase customer satisfaction. You will have overall responsibility for the final proposal to the client.

What skills and experience do I need to apply?
  • A strong business development background within infrastructure services
  • A sound technical understanding of products and services within the IT infrastructure space
  • The ability to communicate with prospective clients on a technical level
  • Ability to juggle work, you will typically be working on around 5-6 opportunities at a time
  • Be able to stop underqualified deals from moving forward and prevent assigning our most critical skills to under-qualified deals.
  • Ability to master and apply expert knowledge of the client's business, strategies and goals within the industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the client's major IT architectures, systems, information flows, applications and their links to customers and suppliers.
  • In-depth working knowledge of the industry and an ability to market very complex IBM solutions, products and services that are specific to an industry.
  • Understand the framework within which an industry operates and the underlying competitive strategies. Recruit partners, form and dissolve alliances in an industry.
