We have an awesome opportunity for an experienced Product Owner to join our People System team based here in Wellington.

As a Product Owner you will be working with a talented development team and responsible for executing on our People Systems product vision and roadmap by creating and delivering innovative solutions that solve real-world problems.

As a group, we provide the technical capabilities needed to support the key product and company strategic initiatives. We act as a trusted consultant and advisor for improving, evolving and building new platforms and solutions that support Xero across multiple business units, markets and territories.

You’ll work with the Productivity team, reporting to the Product Manager of Productivity, People Systems. The People Systems Group works across the business to support our people using internal systems and methods to do their jobs. The Productivity portfolio is responsible for Cloud based software in the fields of project management, documentation and communication. We work within the wider Enterprise Technology portfolio to contribute to Xero’s Technology strategy.

What you'll do:

  • Assist the Enterprise Technology group in using fit-for-purpose software development practices.
  • Coach and manage delivery teams to facilitate and improve on a reliable delivery cadence
  • Produce data to demonstrate and track the team's performance.
  • Proactively identify and facilitate the removal of impediments, protecting the team from disruption and helping them honour commitments.
  • Ensure key collaboration and control ceremonies and processes are followed and carried out in an efficient manner.
  • Work closely with the Product Manager to set expectations for sequencing and delivery, based on best understanding estimations.
  • Foster a culture of collective ownership and accountability for the work completed within the team.
  • Work closely with the Product Manager to ensure stakeholders are provided with the information they require in a timely manner.
  • Work with Architects, Competency Leads and Product Managers to manage resource and capability commitments.
  • Provide input to the wider team for capability performance, growth and learning.
  • Collaborate with a range of teams and competencies (including vendors) to help define, manage and schedule programs of work; and to unblock dependencies as required.
  • What you'll bring:

  • Working with senior and executive stakeholders to understand objectives, value and success measures for new features and enhancements
  • Working with Architecture, Analysis and Delivery Teams to refine and manage scope and requirements
  • Ability to comprehend and have an understanding of the wider Teams portfolio of delivery and how you fit into that
  • Proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude, exceptionally self-motivated and directed
  • Ability to work in a diverse, fast paced environment and effectively collaborate across international teams
  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Agile planning, documentation, scheduling techniques and tools
  • Experience with SaaS platforms and solutions
  • Hands-on experience with data manipulation and modelling
  • Experience with management reporting and data-warehousing
  • Good technical understanding of integration/API interfaces, data and architecture concepts
