Management Accountant - Water Logan

Downer has a long-standing partnership with Logan Water, WSP and Cardno to deliver asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project delivery and organisational development services for the City of Logan. The Logan Water Partnership has recently been awarded to Downer for a further 5+ years. As a result, we are seeking to appoint a Management Accountant to be based in our Beenleigh office. Reporting the Senior Project Accountant, the Management Accountant will deliver timely and reliable financial support to the project team.


The responsibilities include:

  • Support the Project Accountant in the compilation and processing of Head Contract Progress Claims and Invoices
  • Reconciliation and management of Sub-Alliance Partner claims on a monthly basis
  • Processing of Downer labour recharges
  • Support in the updating and uploading of Project Management Reports and associated Management Reporting
  • Assisting Project Managers with enquiries and provision of detailed cost reports
  • Processing of key journals throughout the month and at month end
  • Provision of information to Logan Water appointed auditors upon request
  • Jointly with the Project Accountant, actively support all administrative functions of the Logan Water Partnership time sheeting system and undertake all data entry work associated with transfer/reallocation of hours between tasks/projects
  • Support / relieve Purchasing & Accounts function during key periods / leave
  • Other duties as directed by the Senior Project Accountant


  • Demonstrated experience in management or project accounting, with a minimum of 5 years’ post degree accounting experience
  • Experience within heavy industry, construction or project-based experience will be looked upon favorably
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and master complex processes and concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and use own judgement to make decisions where appropriate
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting
  • CPA/CA accreditation looked upon favorably (or part-way through CPA/CA program)
  • Good exposure to ERP systems
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite including (demonstrated) Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines
  • Experience in the use of business intelligence tools, in particular PowerBI, will be looked upon favourably
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
