Due to Xero's ongoing growth, we are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Reliability team based in Wellington.

The Reliability team empowers other teams from across the business to improve the availability, performance and efficiency of our software products. The foundation of our reliability strategy is to ensure teams have full visibility of emerging issues in our software’s behaviour. We manage and develop a range of monitoring, logging and performance analysis tools for this purpose.

As the Senior Engineer in this monitoring focused pod you will work closely with Xero’s Product teams to determine shared objectives, implement sophisticated monitoring and remediation toolsets, provide technical leadership and build a culture focused on continually improving Xero’s platform and applications.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be enthusiastic about understanding systems and solving complex problems
  • Have experience as a Site Reliability / DevOps engineer and some software engineering experience with a desire to grow development practices and principles.
  • Have experience managing and integrating with logging / monitoring solutions such as (but not limited to) New Relic, Datadog, Dynatrace, Sumo Logic and Splunk
  • Experience working with cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.
  • Have strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Understand how to support, measure and analyse software systems in production
  • Mentor their peers by sharing their skills and experiences
  • Value engagement with both technical and non-technical staff
  • Understand software engineering and the need for continuous improvement
