We are looking to grow the product team out of our Auckland office. As one of our Development Managers, you’ll have a rare opportunity to drive the next steps on a direct revenue SaaS product.

What is a Development Manager at Xero?
You will be responsible for the product development teams working on Xero’s products and their technical practices and standards. Your job, along with your development manager peers, is to build a cohesive thought-leading engineering community which rapidly delivers value to our customers and continually improves. By doing so you’ll contribute to Xero achieving its goals.

What you’ll do?
- Understanding customer problems; you will be the champion of the ‘what’ and the ‘how’ and deliver value through defining, driving and executing a product roadmap aligned with Xero's small business portfolio
- Bridging technical and business worlds as you collaborate with product, design and go-to-market teams to deliver on market needs and priorities
- Working closely with your peers across Xero to deliver quality software with amazing user experiences that tackle real customer problems
- Our people are super important to us and you will play a huge role in creating a culture for your teams that is fun, rewarding, innovative and results-driven. Part of this will be establishing management and peer feedback mechanisms for your team, that support high performance and personal and professional development. You won’t do it alone! You’ll collaborate with your team leads and our People Experience (HR) partners to find creative ways to motivate, acknowledge, reward and retain top talent

What we need from you:
- You have a strong leadership background, leading and building engineering teams
- You will have heaps of experience working with software development projects at scale
- You have demonstrated experience in defining software development best-practice through experimentation and observation of successes
- You have a strong track record of driving and influencing architectural change

If you want to work with an internationally acclaimed, award-winning product right here in Auckland then this is the opportunity you’re looking for. We’ve got huge global reach and appeal, have a strategy in place for continued success and now is the time to be a part of it all.

Xero’s environment is an awesome place to develop in: we have a diverse and inclusive culture that we’re proud of. Whether you’re after a workplace with a social vibe, or a workplace which understands your family is priority - Xero is all of that and more.

We’re a big part of the development community and you’ll find Xeros attending and speaking at conferences, hosting meetups or mentoring students. We’re really open in our discussions at Xero, from the latest engineering and product thinking to improving diversity and inclusion.

At Xero, we encourage flexible working hours and arrangements that allow you to balance your life and passions. We trust you to build to the best of your ability and will support your real passion for continual learning with training and career mentorship to help you flourish.

As part of our awesome package you’ll get Xero shares, life insurance as well as a swathe of other cool perks to make your time here that much more fun than elsewhere.
