The role


The purpose of the Model Office Business Analyst role is to provide quality business requirements and documentation for the development of Model Office, along with product support and client service to end users of Xplan and Model Office.

This is achieved by effectively communicating with clients and internal teams to appropriately investigate and analyse client application issues, and to use initiative and creative problem solving to offer viable resolutions.


What you will be doing

  • Review, analyse, and document business requirements for solutions and provide requirement clarifications throughout the development process, including:
    - Specification of process and document solutions and templates that represent an efficient, effective and compliant way to run a financial planning practice
    - Testing the solutions(s) to ensure that it is matching to the requirements and fit for release to the client
    - Providing support to the clients in how to use the solutions(s) to complete their activities and deliver the desired outcomes

  • Developing solutions to enhance Xplan and the end user experience

  • Improve and document the systems, processes and policies in support of our clients

  • Analyse impact of changes/limitations of software and other dependencies to the advice process

  • Assess and analyse system enhancements to the requests and defects in line with the businesses needs

  • Collecting feedback from clients and implementing enhancement, bugs and customisation whilst also looking at how the solutions could be improved

  • Work on new and existing features as well as troubleshooting issues

  • Working with Product Owner to scope and implement new functionality or review and improve existing functionality

  • Create functional designs, update specifications and when required liaise with appropriate parties to implement the required changes

  • Elicit, document and communicate business requirements

  • Provide continuous improvement recommendations, drawing upon strong industry and regulatory expertise to drive business growth

  • Analysing inbound client's support queries to determine knowledge gaps with existing clients and highlighting these to the relevant support team

  • Providing feedback on the needs and reactions of clients to enable Iress to refine its service proposition

  • Effectively liaise and collaborate with team, and relevant internal departments to gather and analyse required incident information, use initiative and creativity to determine viable incident solutions, and follow through to resolution as required.

  • Comply with annual CPD requirements and keep up-to-date with advice industry trends and legislative changes and undertake research as required

What you will need

  • Strong understanding and expertise in the business drivers and operations of financial planning practices. Experience in the Financial Planning industry with Paraplanning experience highly regarded.

  • Strong understanding and expertise in the implementation of software applications to address business needs. Knowledge and experience with Xplan highly regarded

  • The ability to facilitate and drive solution design workshops

  • The ability to negotiate with internal and external parties, critically evaluate requirements from a functional perspective with focus on continually enhancing the product

  • Well-developed analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Professional manner when presenting to or otherwise dealing with clients and Iress stakeholders

  • Be highly motivated to deliver quality client solutions to a fixed timeframe

  • Ability to work with others in a collaborative team environment, keep calm and promote team confidence during stressful situations

  • Ensure that clients get a fully functional Xplan solution that is relevant to their needs

  • Successful roll out of new versions of software templates for clients
