The Role

The Senior Fund accountant is primarily responsible for supporting the Fund Accounting Manager in the delivery of all financial and accounting functions to our superannuation clients.

What you will be doing:

  • Preparation and analysis of management reporting to stakeholders;

  • Assist the Fund Accounting Manager with designated projects including the management of new superannuation fund clients and general ledger data migration;

  • Preparation of statutory financial reports, including planning and liaising with auditors;

  • Preparation of all APRA reporting with the regulatory authorities and supporting the Fund Accounting Manager in all APRA related projects;

  • Review of the cash flows and daily investment instructions to investment managers and custodians;

  • Review the reconciliation of superannuation investment holdings held by superannuation fund clients;

  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger including ensuring all accounts are reconciled within the standards of service;

  • Ensuring the daily unit prices are reconciled on the Iress superannuation administration systems;

  • Preparation of Business Activity Statements;

  • Manage the reconciliation of all superannuation fund bank accounts and resolving all variances;

  • Assist in the annual review process to provide guidance on tax related matters;

  • Support the work associated with the tax agent in finalising the superannuation fund tax returns; and

  • Ensuring client service standards are met

What you will need:

  • You will be a qualified accountant (CA or CPA qualified) with 5+ years post qualification experience;

  • Ability to prepare and deliver accurate and timely fund financials and statutory reports to stakeholders in the prescribed format, ensuring timetables are met and all parties are correctly notified;

  • Practical experience in the preparation of APRA reporting specifically for superannuation funds;

  • Sound understanding of investment markets and the broader finance industry;

  • Practical knowledge of unit pricing and application to superannuation funds;

  • Working knowledge of fund accounting, legislative and taxation issues including knowledge of accounting processes and recording keeping procedures and systems;

  • Strong organisation skills, ability to manage own time and work independently;

  • Ability to demonstrate highest levels of ownership on accountabilities, with uncompromising standards;

  • Able to illustrate well-developed problem solving skills and analytical thinking;

  • A professional demeanour including excellent communication skills; and

  • Demonstrated adherence to processes and procedures to deliver a quality product.
