About the Opportunity
An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Firmware Engineer - VHDL to be an integral member within our Wide Area Surveillance business. You will be part of an inclusive and supportive team, performing interesting work and maintaining the existing fleet of developed radar products as well as developing the future catalogue of radar products for the export market. Our Richmond office is easily accessible by public transport and close to other facilities.

This opportunity will see you

  • Design and develop new VHDL firmware including requirements derivation, feasibility study of solutions and establishing test plans and procedures
  • Maintain and debug existing VHDL firmware
  • Collaborate with various engineering teams to validate electronic designs prior to manufacture
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers on the development of firmware designs
  • Contribute to the estimation of firmware development level of effort for bids and project estimation
  • Maintain Firmware version control in Git and configuration management in Windchill
  • Participate in firmware review, documentation and set-to-work activities

About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:

  • Experience in developing VHDL firmware, undertaking design analyses and implementing firmware solutions including its integration, validation and qualification testing
  • A university degree level qualification in an appropriate discipline
  • Knowledge and understanding of the engineering development lifecycle
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer management skills

Whilst not essential, familiarity with C++, Linux, Matlab modelling or knowledge of Radio Frequency/analogue engineering will be highly regarded.
