About the role

The Field Engineer Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) Landing Craft is responsible for delivering front line engineering support and waterfront support to the LHD Landing Craft assuring that they are kept in a safe and reliable state of operation in accordance with the requirements of the Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSwMS).

  • Foster and maintain customer and enterprise relationships
  • Conduct engineering investigations and analysis for LHD Landing Crafts (LLC)
  • Provide Urgent Defect (URDEF) response and coordination on-board work to facilitate timely defect rectification
  • Analyse requests of an engineering change to determine whether the proposed change has merit
  • Undertake the analysis, design, development and preparation effort required for Technical Instructions
  • Conduct Supportability and Logistic Engineering Analysis to optimise LLC support
  • Provide engineering/technical advice on the operation and maintenance of LLC and supporting systems
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function and the LHD Enterprise
  • Conduct tasking as directed by the Engineering Support Manager

About you

  • Qualifications in Engineering or Naval Architecture
  • Experience in a Defence environment
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering support
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to work as an effective team member
  • Strong ethics and integrity

Desirable

  • Previous experience with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and/or the Capability, Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG)
  • Previous experience with Landing Craft / knowledge of Naval assets
  • Working knowledge of Asset Management best practise
  • Experience in Naval Technical Regulatory System and/or Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSwMS)

Essential Compliance Requirements

  • Must be an Australian Citizen and have the ability to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance
