Our services include: Engineering Support Services; Maintenance Support Services; Ship Repair, Refit and Refurbishment; Supply Chain Management and Procurement and Logistics.

About the role

The Finance Manager has accountability for the effective and compliant Financial Management of LHD ACPC contract and a functional reporting line to the NSM Head of Finance.

  • Provision of financial modelling and business analysis ;
  • Provision of repeatable, automated and robust management reporting
  • Assess the effectiveness of Contract Management, Contract Administration and cost control of LHD ACPC contract and where necessary escalating issues and/or taking corrective action;
  • Undertake monthly contract reviews covering safety performance, financial performance, Key Performance Indicators and risk management;
  • Monitor the financial performance of the contract and where necessary escalate issues and/or taking corrective action;
  • Liaise with client representatives on financial matters;
  • Report monthly the MTD and YTD P&L results including variance analysis;
  • Report monthly the full year forecast for the P&L and Cash flow including variance analysis;
  • Report on a periodic basis the Program Agreement forecast for the P&L and Cash flow including variance analysis;
  • Develop and coordinate the annual budgeting process for the LHD ACPC contract;
  • Minimise working capital requirements through ensuring customer billing is undertaken in a timely fashion and that supplier payments are only made in accordance with subcontracts;
  • Provide periodic cash flow forecasts;
  • Ensure all "True Up" activities allocated to Finance team are undertaken in a timely and accurate manner;

  • Provide leadership and direction to all team members (direct & indirect), so that all employees are: engaged with the business; understand and adopt NSM’s values, strategy and plans; and are motivated to achieve their objectives and improve the business;
  • Establish clear communication within the team by creating and maintaining a culture of openness, communication that is responsive, and honest, with and from all members of the team, providing innovation and organisational agility;
  • Coach and mentor all direct reports on all aspects of their role;
  • Address poor performance and inappropriate behaviour in a timely manner, taking disciplinary action where required within guidelines of policies and procedures;
  • Maintain a focus on the development of our people, identify resourcing gaps, and actively participate in the recruitment process as required to meet business needs;
  • Ensure that all direct reports have a career development plan, clear and documented objectives aligned to the strategic objectives of the company, which are formally assessed on a 6-monthly basis; and
  • Ensure succession plans are in place for all key roles that are direct reports

About you


  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline;
  • CPA/CA qualified;
  • Extensive experience in Financial Management and/or Accounting roles;
  • Excellent computer literacy and high competency with Microsoft Excel;
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills;
  • Customer service orientation;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Quality orientation / attention to detail;
  • Innovative;
  • Experience in SAP


  • Experience of Government contracts and tenders;
  • Prior experience in Defence sector

Essential Compliance Requirements

  • Must be an Australian Citizen and have the ability to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance;
