Woolworths Business is a newly created business at WooliesX, part of the Woolworths Group. As a strategic objective, we have a goal of growing our B2B revenue and customer offering significantly by 2024, focused on supplying everyday products to businesses across Australia. This role is key to executing our customer value proposition.


The Position:
The Lead UX Designer will support Woolworths Business to change and adapt in ways that extend our value-proposition, enhance our customer/user experience, differentiate us from our competition and improve our financial performance.

The Lead UX Designer champions “Human-centered design” methodologies to understand our business domain, as-is business processes, organisation structures and technology systems and engage with stakeholders to understand their business objectives. They will lead the product design vision end to end, across our range of Business services and products in order to help shape the vision for the launch and lifecycle of business initiatives that make a positive impact across our customers and business strategies. As an effective communicator, they will feel at home collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders ; executive suite, clients, product, technology and cross functional teams.

  • Advocate for the customer and throughout the customer journey and platforms advocating for flexibility and leveraging our toolkit in our Design Thinking & Doing Framework
  • Develop and maintain strategic vision informed through data and insights to influence Business portfolio strategies
  • Own the Business Design process across Woolworths Business and be accountable for the outcome (success/failure) of all agreed Business Design projects/initiatives.
  • Engage directly with a range of business users, including senior stakeholders to understand their objectives and their desired business outcomes.
  • Oversee quantitative and qualitative analysis on potential business design opportunities to identify the most valuable opportunities and assist the Woolworths Business leadership team to prioritise and invest accordingly. Use customer insights to help validate, inform & shape future business initiatives.
  • Guide designers across the team to project manage; plan, scope, execute and manage stakeholders across the business teams and maintain visibility of ongoing initiatives inside of Woolworths to leverage the technology, product and supply chain capabilities and IP.

About You:

  • Minimum 8-10 years demonstrable commercial experience applying human-centred design processes/methodologies to business improvement opportunities and product, ideally supported by evidence of enhancing customer experience/s and financial outcomes through business design initiatives.
  • Portfolio of shipped work demonstrating impactful growth for the business
  • Proven ability to operate successfully in a highly dynamic, fluid business environment, comfortable with working with, and/or resolving, ambiguity. A willingness and ability to pivot quickly if priorities or objectives alter.
  • Proven ability to act with positive intent, foster trust and build long-term credibility with a broad-range of colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills that include a passion and curiosity for understanding stakeholder needs and objectives. This should include a professional toolkit of techniques to gather relevant, accurate and current information from stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to combine human stories/needs with hard data to identify high-value business design initiatives that will result in better products, services or processes for Woolworths Business customers (external and internal).
  • The ability to lead, coach and educate your team, peers and colleagues on the processes, methodologies and benefits of Human Centred Design
  • Strong research, analysis (qualitative and quantitative) and project management skills ideally applied in financial, product/service, market and operational improvement initiatives.
