About the role

Queensland Coal comprises the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) and BHP Mitsui Coal (BMC) assets in the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, Australia.

BMC owns and operates two open-cut metallurgical coal mines in the Bowen Basin – South Walker Creek Mine and Poitrel Mine. BMC is owned by BHP (80 per cent) and Mitsui and Co (20 per cent).

The Specialist Mine Scheduling role is a pivotal position within the Mine Scheduling team, which defines the what, how & when of the sites execution requirements in areas of drill & blast, overburden removal (dragline, truck shovel and dozer push operations), and coal mining. The successful applicant will get exposure across all design and scheduling disciplines through appropriately timed development rotations.

This role is offered on an 8/6 roster basis.

Your initial responsibilities:
  • Generate Execution Designs and handover to Production teams;
  • Construct weekly plan through effective engagement with all stakeholders;
  • Completion of monthly priorities aligned with Business Plan;
  • Strong engagement with Production & Mine Services customers to ensure plans are achievable: and
  • Pursue continuous improvement opportunities throughout your day to day work.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will have experience planning and designing large scale Open Cut Operations. Your advanced knowledge of Deswik is a plus, though not essential to this role.

Your data management and analysis skills enabling interrogation and understanding of production data will be highly regarded. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, allowing you to build relationships across departments and to communicate with disciplines at all levels.
