A bit about your role
The Senior Cyber Defence Analyst is a technical leadership role, responsible for providing specialist capabilities to the Cyber Defence team.
The primary focus of this role will be mentoring the Cyber Defence team and delivering Cyber Security threat identification, detection, response and assisting with threat intelligence services.
In this role, the Senior Cyber Defence Analyst will provide thought leadership and coaching to Cyber Analysts while providing support and subject matter expertise to support Cyber Defence Team Lead and the National Manager Cyber Defence. You will engage with the wider Security Group and provide technical expertise when and where required to improve security monitoring of nbn assets.
Your communication skills will be top rated to converse with technical leads from other areas of nbn including, networks, infrastructure and application platforms. In this highly skilled role, the Senior Cyber Defence Analyst’s will be the technical subject matter expert (SME) with responsibility of using security systems and toolset, managing all aspects of threat management and work closely with the Cyber Incident Response team to respond to threats, including understanding and reporting their impact.
Integrating internal and external threat intelligence into threat management tools and identifying opportunities or taking the lead to automate manual task is required.
This role will involve being on call on a rotational basis and will require active participation during an incident.
A bit about you
The Senior Cyber Defence Analyst will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a Security Operations Centres or similarly, high volume environment with a desire to proactively improve security monitoring processes and tools by presenting innovative ideas or new ways of operating current toolsets to mature Cyber Defence capabilities.
We are looking for a particularly skilled Senior Cyber Defence Analyst in Security event and incident management tools and other supporting network, endpoint and cloud security monitoring tools.
You will be a Technical leader with the ability to utilise advanced techniques to analyse and detect the presence of malicious activity, with a solid understanding and practical use of threat management frameworks and hunting.
To be successful in this role, the Senior Cyber Defence Analyst will have extensive experience in the following:
- Operational Cyber Security Experience including Threat Hunting
- Specialist skills in Cyber Security tools such as Cisco Security Tool Suite and Splunk
- Practical working knowledge of current and recent tactics techniques and procedures for common attack types, including frameworks such as: Kill Chain and Mitre Attack framework
- Experience with Cyber Security Incident response
- Experience with threat management tools and incident response platform
- Experience with network security monitoring platforms
- Experience using Security incident and event management (SIEM) tools
- Web and email policy management platforms
- Experience with Cloud security monitoring
- Experience with end point security and malware protection capabilities
- Any Cyber Security certifications would be highly desirable
