The largest shipbuilding endeavour in the nation's history has commenced in South Australia.
ASC Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of BAE Systems Australia, has been contracted to deliver nine anti-submarine warfare frigates to the Royal Australian Navy.
The Hunter Class Frigate Program will create and sustain more than 5,000 jobs across BAE Systems and the wider Australian defence supply chain over the life of the program.

Apply your talent where it counts as the Shipbuild Project Controls Manager. You will be part of the Shipbuild Integrated Project team on the Hunter Class Frigate program (HCFP), based at the ASC Shipbuilding facility in Osborne, South Australia
As the Shipbuild Project Controls Manager you will own the continued development and maintenance of the Contract Work Breakdown Structure (CWBS) on behalf of the Shipbuild Integrated Project Team (IPT). You will also support contributions to reporting, internal and external reviews.

In terms of more specific responsibilities to the following areas you will:

Project Controls

  • Provide assurance that the Shipbuild CWBS reflects the obligations contained within the HCFP Head Contract agreement including appropriately detailed CWBS dictionary statements
  • Manage the establishment and maintenance of Performance Measurement Baseline control across the Shipbuild IPT
  • Assure the credibility of Earned Value Techniques applied across the Shipbuild IPT work-scope
  • Develop repeatable and stable processes for assuring progress assignments are governed across the Shipbuild IPT work-scope
  • Deliver critical to quality processes around: Control Account Management; Baseline Configuration; Rolling Wave Planning and Estimate at Complete.
  • Manage the activities of the HCFP – Shipbuild IPT Controls team

Reporting & Performance Management:

  • Manage the delivery of EVM project reporting and analysis data to the project on a monthly basis;
  • Support roll-out of Mission Control Environment within the Australian locations (including specifying tailoring need to support HCFP requirements);
  • Develop a suite of metrics showing project health.

About you

As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:

  • Significant experience in delivering an integrated schedule
  • Demonstrated capability in driving and supporting decisions on different levels, through the information and analysis driven out from the schedule and associated metrics.
  • Demonstrated experience in the administration and analysis of cost, schedule, scope and risk in an Earned Value Management based project environment
  • Experience using Cobra / Primavera 6 will be highly regarded
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to deal with ambiguity
  • The ability to lead a team with a culture of information sharing, innovative problem solving, through open and exploratory discussions
