ASC Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of BAE Systems Australia, has been contracted to deliver nine of the world most advanced anti-submarine warfare frigates to the Royal Australian Navy.
The Hunter Class Frigate Program will create and sustain more than 5,000 jobs across BAE Systems and the wider Australian defence supply chain over the life of the program.

Apply your talent where it counts as a Land-Based Test Site (LBTS) Engineering Manager in our ASC Shipbuilding team in Adelaide. This role will be initially based in Adelaide CBD with move into Osborne Naval Shipyard in due course and will involve intermittent travel to the local (Adelaide-based) test site.

About the Opportunity
You will be responsible for the development and sustainment of Land Based Test Site capability to enable the Hunter Class Combat System integration and testing and support Ship integration and trials.
In more specific terms you will:

  • Develop and maintain engineering planning for the delivery of the LBTS

  • Support the project manager's planning and management of schedule, cost, risk and opportunity baseline and management of the LBTS team

  • Engineering and design lead, managing the development and delivery by the LBTS Design team of:

  • Act as the technical point of contact with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders on design, implementation and delivery matters

  • Manage engineering change

  • LBTS requirements and design

  • Suppliers' scope definition and deliverables

  • Combat System delivery teams' scope definition and deliverables

  • Installation planning, drawings and materials

  • Safety and security considerations

  • Integrated Logistics Support activities

  • LBTS customer working groups andreviews and internal reviews

  • Ensure appropriate review and analysis of supplier and internal engineering deliverables

About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:

  • Sound working knowledge of Engineering Management with extensive formal engineering experience
  • Demonstrable experience in Combat System equipment , design and integration of complex engineering projects with some background in test facility highly desirable
  • Demonstrated team leadership/management experience
  • Tertiary qualifications and experience satisfying the requirements for membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia
  • Chartered Professional Engineer status or commitment to obtain within 12 months of appointment
