ITO Senior Application Engineer

Role Summary:

CM&U team in GE Gas Power Services is dedicated to providing solutions to existing fleet, either to improve performance, meet new standards requirements, or convert units from other packagers to GE's. The ITO Engineer is in charge to work closely with sales, commercial, engineering, vendors and external customers in developing bid strategy, equipment offering, and develop sales proposals for upgrades.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Familiar with local compliance/regulations as well as Gird requirements.
  • Meet with external customers to identify their technology needs & generate new growth
    opportunities for CM&U business
  • Production of technical conversion, modification and upgrade (CM&U) proposals involving
    coordination with customers, regional teams, design teams, Product Services and service shops to ensure the proposal is compatible with the unit, the customer needs, GE design standards and established engineering quoting limits
  • Respond to customer technical inquires with estimated product performance and other pertinent technical information
  • Support meetings both inside and outside the company at GE or Customer Facilities to discuss
    the technical content and merits of CM&U proposals and their associated products
  • Own Quality and on-time delivery for all ITO proposals
  • Develop engineering manpower & schedule estimates in support of sales
  • Communicate with key stakeholders, including engineering management, product line
    management, project management, sourcing, etc
  • Implement the relevant ISO procedures and instructions and drive action items to closure.
  • Support site surveys and customer meetings
  • Participate in delivering and receiving peer to peer training to share experience on product
    experience and NPI activities
  • Lead the effort to develop sales tools (design standards, one-pagers, etc) to arm sales team and
    improve ITO responsiveness
  • Monitor industry and technology trends as well as regulatory developments to develop new
    solutions
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and commercial splashes with sales and/or
    customer during users conference
  • Work with Suppliers on new technologies, systems and components


Qualifications/Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 10 years of post-Bachelor’s Degree Engineering experience or 8 years of post-Master’s Degree Engineering experience with LM Gas Turbine and/or Package experience



Desired Characteristics:


  • Master's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Engineering.
  • Experience with Electrical or Mechanical systems associated with Gas turbine
    Packaging.
  • Experience with engineering principles, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Drawings)
    and/or electrical schematics and loop drawings.
  • Experience designing integrated mechanical/electrical systems similar to aero
    derivative gas turbine packages Previous experience power plant components and proposals.
  • Experience developing budgets and proposals
  • Proven experience interacting with customers
  • Experience in technical customer support
  • Knowledge of Codes and Standards applicable to Gas Turbine Packaging.
  • Experience developing or managing manufacturing Bills of Material (BOM)
  • Experience in technical customer support
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with cross-functional experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make data-based recommendations and decisions
  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment
  • Ability to travel to support customer needs
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified or Black Belt certified or quality certification
  • Experience working in a global matrix organization
