About the Opportunity
As the Assistant Export Control Officer, you will support the application and implementation of export control compliance obligations. This includes ensuring compliance with all company export control policies and procedures and compliance with relevant export control laws and regulations from around the world. Areas of focus will be, but not limited to, the Customs Act 1901, Defence Trade Control Act 2012, Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) Regulations.
What are Export Controls?
Restrictions apply to a wide range of information, goods and technologies, with some information, technologies, equipment and materials more sensitive than others, and thus requiring greater protection and restriction of use. Export Controls is essential in achieving this aim. Through BAE Systems' Export Control procedures and policy the company protects the interests and technology of its customers and contributes to Australia's national security, international interests and obligations.
With support from the Export Control Officer, joining our team in this role will see you:
Support export control responsibilities for the Battlespace Integrated Solutions business
Consult with key stakeholders to define, influence and implement export control obligations for the business
Act as a point of contact for export control enquiries, providing advice and guidance on export control regulations and procedures
Support the implementation of export control policies and procedures
Understand the jurisdiction and classification on the relevant export control lists for all export control material within the project
Assist with the formation and maintenance of export control licences and agreements including initiating applications for import and export permits
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with export control compliance and develop strategies to mitigate them contribute to the management of the export control risk register
Provide training to key stakeholders and senior management within the project
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- A degree-level qualification in either legal, business or international studies
- Strong analytical and critical thinking ability
- Clear and effective communication skills
- A proactive approach, attention to detail and strong problem solving skills
- The ability to direct and influence others
- The ability to determine, understand and mitigate risk
- The ability to work with individuals outside of your direct working environment
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
