Job Expectations

This is a fantastic opportunity to join nbn’s Internal Audit team! Reporting to the Executive Manager Internal Audit – Technology, Operations, Strategic Risk and Security, you will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of technology assurance related services across nbn.

A bit about your role

  • As Senior Manager Internal Audit - Technology you will work alongside one of Australia’s largest and highest profile co-sourced Internal Audit engagements and be instrumental in delivering large and high-risk programs of work, while acting as an independent risk adviser to nbn stakeholders.

In your new role you will:

  • Be accountable for driving a significant stream of work within the Internal Audit, Technology and Operations (T&O)function, including both leading and working as a specialist subject matter expert alongside a large team of internal and co-sourced assurance and advisory similar minded professionals

  • Provide critical thinking to resolve complex business issues. This role is central to ensuring the T&O function is a trusted adviser to senior management and executive that ultimately drives sustainable business change and value for nbn

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with nbn management, staff, auditees and co-sourced service provider staff.

A bit about you

You will have:

  • Deep technical knowledge and experience with complex IT systems, enterprise-wide business processes, controls and risks

  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead cross functional and direct team resources and to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (at all levels) to achieve required business outcomes and positive employee engagement through communication, diplomacy and advocacy

  • Strong commitment to drive customer focus and pragmatic commercial / savings outcomes to clients that is closely aligned to their strategic priorities especially internal nbn business stakeholders

  • Skills in motivating others both within the nbn IAFM and broader IA co-source team in the achievement of challenging objectives and achieving desired outcomes

  • Significant prior audit experience in a public accounting or large corporate environment with a sound and practical knowledge of current internal auditing standards, methodologies and tools and internal control frameworks across a technology function

  • Demonstrated experience in auditing operational controls, financial systems, projects and using/developing computer-based audit techniques and a demonstrated ability to prepare papers for Audit Committees

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Problem solving skills and the ability to build effective working relationships and influence senior leaders

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (Computer Science, commerce or engineering) and ideally an appropriate post-graduate qualification (CISA, CIA, CA, MBA) and also well regarded would be Professional membership of a relevant industry association (IIA, ACS, ISACA)
