About the role
Laing O'Rourke are recruiting for a Temporary Works Manager to join the South Eastern Program Alliance team based in Richmond, VIC.
Laing O’Rourke, as part of the South East Program Alliance (SEPA), has been awarded the contract to remove the dangerous and congested level crossing at Toorak Road and deliver a new $89M rail bridge over the road, and is also working with LXRP, Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) and Jacobs to develop and deliver value-for-money engineering solutions for multiple level crossing removals.
The Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) is a delivery entity created by the Victorian Government to remove 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across Victoria by 2025. It is one of the largest rail infrastructure projects in Victoria’s history.
Our current pipeline of works includes major station upgrades, track duplications and a range of other critical rail infrastructure works.
Proactively support projects during tender and execution to ensure engineering excellence is achieved and risk is minimised.
Establish and manage working relationships with Temporary Works Subject matter Expert, Project Engineers, and Design Managers.
Review permanent works (PW) designs, contribute to development of work sequences and methods, and identify temporary works (TW) requirements whether to be delivered buy LOR or subcontractors.
In conjunction with Project Engineers prepare Design Briefs for TW schemes, including all necessary concept sketches, PW drawings, specifications and construction staging information.
Transmit Design Brief to competent designer, agree scope, fee, priorities, schedule and deliverables, control time and monitor progress of design, and obtain certified design documentation.
Review TW designs to ensure they are complete, practical, buildable, comply with the Design Brief and other project requirements, codes, standards and legislation.
Degree in an Engineering Discipline with a minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction industry in a comparable role.
Knowledge and experience in design, construction & management of temporary works. An understanding of relevant design codes and proprietary temporary works systems. Experience in providing technical direction, issue resolution, providing quality assurance and producing reports
