About the role
We are looking for a Tailings & Dams Engineer to provide technical and operational support to Engineering and Site Operational teams. This role will be offered on a 12 month Fixed Term contract, working Monday to Friday in our Perth office.
This is a great opportunity to contribute to the successful stewardship of a significant portfolio of tailings and water storage facilities and work across a large business, while gaining professional development working closely within a network of tailings professionals and industry experts.
Reporting to the Specialist Reliability Engineer you will:
Take responsibility, providing first party assurance, for the safe and efficient operation of tailings and water storage facilities
Complete inspection and monitoring as part of a broad dam surveillance program
Engage and provide the interface between operational teams, project teams, internal SMEs, appointed Design Engineers and external reviewers
Develop cost estimates for future projects and contribute to the preparation of the annual operational and sustaining capital budgets
Assist in the operational and technical review of tailings and water storage facility studies
Respond to technical queries
Attend site to complete assurance inspections and monitoring reviews
Review management of change requests relating to tailings and water storage facilities
Be responsible for providing technical support to multiple site teams operating tailings and water storage facilities
Provide governance against internal and external standards across the business.
You will be primarily based in Perth at our Central Park office working Monday to Friday. The role will require regular site travel to our three Dampier Salt Operations.
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
Bachelor of engineering (Civil) degree
C Class licence
Previous professional experience with design, construction and/or operation of tailings and water storage facilities
A high level of competency with risk based approach to asset management
Strong stakeholder engagement skills
Excellent communication skills
It will also be beneficial if you have:
A strong understanding of dam safety monitoring equipment and interpretation of data (piezometers, inclinometers, survey prisms);
A strong background in either soil mechanics or tailings processing and storage facility operation;
Experience in interpretation of geotechnical testing, material characterisation and stability design;
Experience in supervising the construction of tailings and water storage facilities;
The ability to influence others to continue to reduce the business risk.
