Category Manager – Subcontractors

This is a great opportunity to join a market leader as a driver in some of our key procurement initiatives. As a pivotal member of our group procurement function, you will drive innovative ways of working and managing change, leading to significant year-on-year savings.

You will be supporting major projects and providing procurement support to various parts of the business with the aim of understanding overall category needs and to manage strategies to ensure value for money, high levels of service and compliance with procedures and professional best practice.

You will also manage contracts at an operational level including management of subcontractors and internal customers and to drive improvement initiatives to address underperformance in either areas.

To be successful in this role, you must have the following:

  • Several years’ experience in project procurement within construction/civil or major projects
  • MCIPS preferred combined with a Business/Commerce degree or similar qualifications
  • The ability to lead and manage complex negotiations and improve on supplier performance
  • Proven experience in extracting value by developing market innovations with key strategic partners

Additionally, you will be a strong communicator and a hands-on operator, with a proven track record in delivering cost savings for the business combined with an ability to influence and build strong business relationships. Commercially astute, you will be proactive in your approach when dealing with problems and finding solutions with the flexibility to travel to support project needs when required.
