How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…

The Waste and Recycling Branch manages the strategic direction and delivery of waste and recycling services within the municipality through the provision of contracted services, program delivery and policy development.

As the Senior Project Officer, you will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the City of Melbourne Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030. You will be responsible for the design and delivery of capital projects and infrastructure, involving complex engagement partnerships.

You will coordinate the annual budget and capital works bids, budget planning and expenditure monitoring for waste resource recovery strategy programs. Furthermore, you will interact, consult and collaborate with residents, businesses, state government agencies or departments, neighbouring local councils, consultants, and contractors.

Our ideal candidate will be a highly proficient project management professional who is an outcome focussed, effective communicator with prior experience delivering waste and recycling projects.

  • High level project management skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to liaise effectively with the community and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and implementing programs.
  • High level collaborative, negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in environmental management or sustainability.
