Group Project Director – Mine Expansion

We are currently looking for a Project Director to run our Cowal Underground Mine Expansion Project. This project will see the management and delivery of 2 projects;
a) The creation and ramp up of a new underground mine, plant modification and infrastructure taking the site from open pit operations to open pit and underground. The project is currently in a combined Pre-Feasibility/Feasibility Stage and execution expected in Q3FY20, and;
b) The management of a Satellite Pit Project that is currently in the beginning of Prefeasibility Stage
This role is offered on a fixed term contract basis with the likelihood being for a term of two years with the option of moving into a staff position based on performance and company position.
Reporting to the Group General Manager – Transformation & Effectiveness, you will have overall responsibility for project strategy, study management and delivery, project reporting, budget management as well as keeping ahead on potential risks, schedule, costs and quality expectations. You will also report frequently to the Company Executive Team, Project Steering Committee (COO, CFO, VP Business Development/Geology) and the GM Cowal.
What you’ll bring
We require a leader that is proven in leading mining projects above $300M CAPEX, agile, dynamic and able to build business case options for the Leadership Team and Board and then execute these in a way that exceeds expectations (safety, cost, schedule, risk, production and scope management). You will be able to lead with vision and translate this to multiple stakeholders and levels in to on ground project delivery.
You will have proven experience delivering large scale mining projects from the owners side perspective and have worked across Greenfield and Brownfield project environments with a CAPEX value of >$300M. You will also have proven experience completing studies and projects through to practical completion and commissioning in an operational environment and have experience in business case formation, scheduling and project cost estimation/project controls management experience. You will have a tertiary qualification in Mining, Metallurgy. Engineering, Construction or Project Management from a Recognised University.

The Cowal Gold Operation
The Cowal Gold Operations (CGO) is the largest asset in Evolution Mining’s current portfolio and is undergoing an exciting period of growth including the expansion of our large open pit operation, the development of new underground assets, upgrading of the mineral processing asset, and expanding other site infrastructure to support this growth.
