About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Reliability Engineering at Port Hedland, the senior reliability engineer will identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations whilst providing technical support, coaching and mentoring to the team.
Responsibilities within this role include:
  • Tracking production losses and abnormally high maintenance cost assets and identify improvement opportunities
  • Managing risk to the achievement of the organisation’s strategic objectives in the areas of environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality and production
  • Working closely with the project engineering team to ensure adherence to the life cycle asset management process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets
  • Supporting operation and maintenance in managing and troubleshooting for the Fixed Plant Control Systems

This opportunity is available on a FIFO 5/2/4/3 or residential 5/2 roster.
Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic, driven and Degree qualified (Electrical Engineering) Individual with highly developed written and verbal communication skills. With at least 8 years’ experience in either electrical engineering or electrical reliability with preferred exposure to processing plants. You thrive on sharing and enhancing technical knowledge and expertise within your team and coaching and mentoring those around you to increase capability and productivity.
As a valued team player you work collaboratively with others in order to deliver key outcomes focused around safety, process optimisation, improvements and down time elimination.
In addition, the following key attributes would be highly advantageous:
  • High level understanding of plant instrumentation, drive sets and power distribution
  • High level of understanding of all Australian Standards and MSIR relevant to managing electrical equipment
  • High level understanding and experience with RCA and defect elimination methodologies
  • High level understanding of FMECA / FMEA and its application
  • High level understanding of Work Management Budget development
  • Experience with Project management of operational initiatives
  • High level understanding of Delay Accounting and 1SAP systems
  • Understanding of reliability performance metrics and calculations
