Department/ Role Overview:

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Business Development Executive to join our Business Development team in Melbourne on a 12 month fixed term contract. This role is responsible for supporting the Australian Projects & Real Estate practice and to develop and execute business development and marketing initiatives relating to the division's strategy as well as opportunities with key clients of the firm. The Projects & Real Estate BD team has team members in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney and works across the nation-wide practice. While a large part of this role will be direct contact and support to the legal teams based in Melbourne there will also be national deliverables and initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Providing support in the implementation of the firm's BD strategy for the legal division
  • Project management support across the entire opportunity pursuit process, including maintaining opportunity databases, tracking progress and outcomes, and assisting with a wide range of proposals and capability statements, often to very tight deadlines
  • Preparing and maintaining marketing materials, including website/intranet content, client publications, brochures and pitch/ pursuit material
  • Assisting with preparing legal directory and awards submissions as well as league table submissions
  • Maintaining and developing the credentials database for legal practice areas, including practice and matter specific information and lawyer profiles
  • Coordinate and project manage events and other profiling initiatives (working with the events team)
  • Developing and implementing plans for major clients, working closely with Client Relationship Partners and other BD team members
  • Contributing to regular updates to management, the Board and other stakeholders on BD activity
  • Supporting the broader BD team on other local or practice area projects as they arise
  • Responding to requests from colleagues in other jurisdictions for BD support
  • Forming positive working relationships, particularly with Partners, the BD team and other support services teams

  • Ability to effectively interact with peers and internal clients including senior stakeholders – especially under deadline pressure
  • Ability to deal directly with clients and client representatives where appropriate
  • Ability to work autonomously when required as well as ability to work within a team and take direction from others
  • Happy to assist with other priorities and projects as needed
