An opportunity has become available for a seasoned Lead Delivery Engineer (Workday) within the People & Culture (P&C) Service Team in Melbourne, delivering technology solutions to support the essential HR and payroll processes within nbn.

A bit about your role

In this key role, you will provide leadership and direction to the engineers within an agile delivery team, leveraging strong Workday knowledge and experience to drive and implement complex technical, functional and process changes to meet the short- and long-term technology needs of the business.

The role will require strong people leadership, organising and inspiring individuals by creating a high performing culture in which great work is done.

Technical leadership will also be a key function, responsible for ensuring that agile software engineering practices are adopted and continuously evolved and that software changes are designed and delivered to exacting standards and with a high degree of quality and efficiency.

Some other key accountabilities would include:

  • Taking technical responsibility across all stages and iterations of software development. Plans and drives software construction activities. Ensure the technical quality of the delivered software
  • Managing delivery team, allocating work and delegating responsibility appropriately. Set team targets and monitor/report progress.
  • Assisting team members in creating development plans and support professional development.
  • Promoting and delivering engineering/dev-ops metrics to enable objective measurement and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
  • Providing Technical leadership for the delivery team – point of technical escalation and management of technical risks and issues.
  • Providing direction and input into solution design and problem solving, working with architecture team.
  • Participating in work estimation and planning.
  • Supporting role in the identification of non-functional changes (in collaboration with the service team solution architects and platform based system teams).
  • Performing design, development, test activities as part of the Delivery Team. Includes configuration and development across multiple Workday modules (Core HCM, Recruitment, Learning, Compensation, Cloud Platform)

A bit about you

The ideal person for this role is someone who have strong people leadership combined with a strong background in Workday.

A thorough understanding of the People and Culture domain (primarily human resources & payroll, ideally including HSE) working in a Scaled Agile Environment will be key. While specific knowledge on in-scope platforms and domain/process knowledge in areas such as activation or assurance may also be required.

Your outstanding communication skills will be put to good use in this role bridging the knowledge and communications between the business areas. You will earn respect from your colleagues through your collaborative attitude, mentorship and guidance, while having an open mindset, big picture perspective, technical proficiency and commitment to guiding the team.

Having experience in integrating multi-application and cross-partner business IT solutions would be an advantage. And a thorough understanding of recognised software implementation methods and practices, including a thorough knowledge of and experience within the HR & Payroll (and ideally HSE) domains. A demonstrated ability to adopt and adapt to new and developing practices in the field of software implementation would be valuable to your success.
