Engineering Manager - CRM (


CBUS Super is embarking on the next huge phase of growth and we are seeking the talents of an enthusiastic and passionate Salesforce CRM Engineering Manager.

You’ll have an opportunity to lead the technical direction, design, development, implementation and maintenance of solutions, whilst providing coaching, mentoring and development to staff members.
The Engineering Manager will ensure CBUS Customer Relationship Management (CRM) provides exceptional customer experience across digital and guided channels through CRM platform, while balancing risk and regulatory requests. This is a hands-on technology position that designs, develops, deploys and manages enterprise CRM platform responsible for delivering personalized, consistent, and engaging customer experience to our Members, Employers and enterprise users via Web, Mobile, and other vehicles.
The role will be operating in a business that is experiencing accelerated growth in members, funds under management (FUM) and business size, scale and services delivered, where an emphasis on digital services, customer centricity and organisational excellence solutions is valued.

The role is accountable for (but not limited to) the following:

The CRM Engineering Manager's primarily accountable for technical direction, design, development, implementation and maintenance of solutions, ensuring sustainable and measurable continuous improvement is achieved.

CRM Engineering Manager is directly accountable for the technical planning and successful delivery of prioritised pipeline of CRM initiatives and enhancements effectively serving/managing engineering team members (internal and partners) while ensuring stable operations.

As an Engineering Manager closely partner with product owners, and other business & technology leaders providing technical leadership, collect requirements and drive consensus on scope and prioritisation for relevant CRM roadmaps and strategies. Provides resource & effort estimations for with consideration for maintenance and enhancements, production support and upgrades.

Define and align to the agile and DevOps principles and toolsets being established with high degrees of automation throughout the development process. Continuous integration, continuous deployment and continuous operational monitoring as baseline goals.

Lead engineering practice & team members by example performing hands-on architecture, design, analysis and development, along with regularly contributing to writing code, testing, peer reviews and support/coordination of successful product/platform releases.

As an Engineering Manager provide thought leadership upskilling engineering team members and wider IT teams in agile and DevOps best practices. Adopt and implement innovative practices, tools, and frameworks to deliver better value.
As a member of the Design Build and Implement Leadership Group, you will share several common responsibilities:
  • Recruiting, motivating and retaining your direct reports
  • Developing and executing training and mentoring plans for your direct reports and providing a career framework for their roles
  • Educating yourself on technical advances and the evolution of best practice in your respective disciplines
  • Requesting, sourcing and managing external contractors / consultants / partners as required
  • Being an ambassador for the Design Build and Implement team through publicising capabilities and achievements articulating Design Build and Implement team value preposition
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for the Design Build and Implement team to add value to other business units through our existing capabilities
  • Proactively working to improve the maturity of capabilities within your specialist domain and supporting the wider Leadership Group to do the same
  • Responding to high priority production incidents as required directing and coordinating war room type scenarios
  • Contributing to Enterprise IT, CX, Omni Channel, contact centre & digital strategies other Business Plans
Selection Criteria

Technical Capability

  • Bachelors or Master’s in applicable areas of study and/or 8+ years of related experience
  • Hands-on experience architecting, developing, and delivering full-cycle implementations of as a delivery manager, technical lead or senior developer
  • Hands-on advanced programming experience of building APEX code/classes, triggers, integrations, Visualforce/ Lightning UI components, deploying AppExchange products
  • Extensive experience in designing and developing Salesforce integrations with internal and external systems using integration frameworks such as REST, SOAP, AJAX, RAML.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering solutions from business functional requirements to system/technical requirements across multiple products like Sales, Service, Financial, Community and Marketing clouds.
  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of modern DevOps practices including source control, build management (CI-CD), environment management, configuration management and administration within context
  • Extensive experience of developing and applying Agile & DevOps delivery practices and tools into ways of working, including coaching and mentoring within an environment undergoing agile transformation
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing highly available, fault-tolerant distributed cloud / SaaS service used by multiple business areas within a complex enterprise

The following will also be highly regarded:

  • Experience in delivering capability within large transformation programs
  • Experience in implementing for a contact centre
  • Experience in driving practice and adoption within an enterprise
  • Knowledge of Websites/portals, APIs/integrations, Data-Lake platforms or concepts
  • Experience of insourcing build activities, including defining a delivery and engagement model


  • 8 years’ experience in leading application development
  • 5 years’ experience in leading a team of developers, testers and technical analysts
  • 3 years’ experience architecture and design roles

Management Capability

  • High degree of managerial ability and communication skills at the senior management level
  • Able to write and present strategy papers and/or business cases for initiatives
  • Familiarity with the capabilities and accountabilities of various roles with SDLC including solution Engineers, Engineers, technical Analysts, Scrum masters and testers
  • Well-developed organisational, administrative and customer service skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and control own workload
  • Able to lead, influence and motivate others and build cross functional relationships
  • Will have created an execution-oriented culture that is focused on hitting milestones and achieving goals
  • Be comfortable in delegating responsibility to your direct reports and holding them accountable

Staff Management

  • Experience in building a scalable, mature, motivated and highly productive team of engineering professions
  • Experience in setting and delivering personal and team results through effective KPI targets within a technical workforce


  • Collaborative, results orientated, strategic and high learning agility
  • Staff at Cbus will be expected to demonstrate a willingness to champion and demonstrate the Cbus values and associated behaviours
  • An interest in some level of cross-skilling into related Design Build and Implement specialisms (e.g. Cloud Engineering and Integrations (APIs))
