Role – Senior Consultant, Oracle Database Administrator

Location – Melbourne, Australia

Short Description – Database administrator with minimum 5 years of core experience in administrating and supporting production oracle databases, on Exadata and on AWS cloud for enterprise level client. Senior Consultant is able to deliver high quality technical solutions and possess excellent debugging skills on large size databases and in cloud platforms such as AWS.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform performance-tuning working as application DBA for multiple enterprise mission critical applications.
  • Perform Oracle golden gate setup and associated replication activities.
  • Ensure data replications, set up database performance monitoring related alerting
  • Able to work on high availability (oracle RAC), back-up and restore activities for database.
  • Database performance optimization design preparation, and articulate the solution to multiple stakeholders.
  • Work closely with application service delivery engineers in ensuring 100% availability for mission critical production databases.
  • SQL, PL-SQL scripting
  • Perform DB activities on Exadata X5-2, X6-2 & X7-2 Procurement, Configuration, Patching, Upgrades.
  • Validation of architecture, creation and review of design as applicable.
  • Expertise on oracle databases 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g & 12c Installation, perform Upgrades, Patching and Management.
  • Able to perform advanced security including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Oracle Key Vault, Oracle Audit Vault.
  • Perform business continuity and disaster recovery including oracle physical standby, Data guard broker
  • Prepare shell scripts in Linux
  • Able to debug and analyze AWR, provide recommendations, working on OEM R12.2 Cloning & Patching
  • Work on AWS Cloud (EC2, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Elasti-Cache)
  • Perform backups - RMAN/Datapump, Hot/Cold/Differential/Cumulative
  • Participate in technical decisions, technical reviews and conduct technical trainings
  • The individual must possess experience in managing stakeholders internal and external, and show a good understanding of IT principles, processes, technology and application engineering.

Skills /Competencies
  • Experience in ITIL methodology
  • Oracle database certified administration certification is preferred
  • Certification in AWS Cloud is preferred
  • Must have working experience in Enterprise scale clients
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Able to work in deployments and planned database maintenance activities out of office hours
  • Able to provide on-call support during critical production issues in out of office hours.
  • Working experience in Agile delivery model
  • 5+ years’ experience working as oracle database administrator
  • 3+ years working experience in Oracle golden gate
  • 2+ years working experience in AWS
  • Strong communication, organizing and negotiating skills to navigate with multiple stakeholder in a matrix setup of a large organisation

Educational Qualifications:
  • Engineering Bachelors or master’s degree level or equivalent
