Our Traffic Management department services Downer contracts in the Canterbury region, providing high quality and compliant temporary traffic management from Kaikoura down the Rakaia and everywhere in between. Our planners receive requests from our clients and design the traffic management plan to ensure the operational teams can be safe while working on the road as well as making sure the public can drive through our work sites safely.
We are looking for someone who has the ability to think quickly, communicate effectively and loves working on computers. This is a unique opportunity for the right person – as we will offer on the job training including working out onsite to get to know and understand the traffic management requirements.
Key functions include:
- Being able to talk to our clients to understand and interpret their traffic management needs
- Read and understand the Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management
- Designing temporary traffic management plans using RapidPlan

You must be able to communicate effectively, have experience and knowledge of computers, as well as working under pressure when required.
You will also possess:
- Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office suite, CAD experience is desirable but not essential.
- A desire to learn and develop your skills
- Commitment to the driving top quality service for our clients
- Full driver’s license preferred
- Ability to learn and adhere to our health, safety and environmental requirements.
