Personal Branding with Andrea Clarke: Women in Cisco

Women of Cisco (previously Cisco Connected Women) is an internal global community focused on Attracting, Developing, Retaining and Celebrating talented and inspirational women as part of a competitive and diverse workforce. #WomenOfCisco

Each financial quarter Cisco North Sydney has been hosting networking events for anyone interested in being part of our community and learning from our diverse range of keynote speakers that present in each of our sessions.

More recently we have undertaken fundraising activities at the events, with funds being raised for the Sea Women of Melanesia for the Coral Sea foundation. #CoralSeaFoundation

Our last event we had a Cisco favourite join us, personal branding expert, Andrea Clarke of #CareerCEO. Andrea came along to share insights on how you can unlock your career potential from her Australian Business Book of the year 2019:

“Future Fit- How to Stay Relevant and Competitive in the Future of Work”

Due to Andrea’s popularity, this was a highly sought-after event, and the room was buzzing with excitement to hear from Andrea.


There were some key take-aways:

  • The Future of Work is about Talent, NOT technology- so it is important to continue to upskill and learn to stay relevant and valuable. It will become more and more important to adapt to new ways of working and apply our uniquely human skills in new ways. It is important to attend networking events, listen to podcasts, develop professional skills.

  • Reputation Capital- this refers to the worth of your reputation across communities and marketplaces (Think UBER, LinkedIn, eBay, Airbnb). Your reputation capital is where you as an individual are given a rating/feedback/evaluated. It is increasingly important that you aware of how you are perceived both on-line and off-line.

The first step is to decide on your PURPOSE and what you would like to be known for. You can start on defining your reputation and your brand by focusing on 4 key areas:

CONSIDER: What key differentiators separates you from your peers? CREATE: What platforms will you use? AMPLIFY: What audience/community will you target? ENGAGE: Who are you speaking to, who else can you speak to?

At the completion of the session, attendees were energised and were discussing how they can continue to upskill and stay relevant, and how they need to take an active role in managing their reputation capital now that it had been clearly defined.


The next Women of Cisco networking event will take place in North Sydney at the end of February.
