Cbus recognised as workplace flexibility leader at the 2017 AHRI Awards

Endorsed Employer for Women Cbus, the Industry Super Fund for the Construction Building and Allied industries won two awards recognising their outstanding workplace flexibility practices at the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) 2017 Awards.

Cbus took out the Elizabeth Broderick AO Workforce Flexibility Award as well as the AHRI HR Diversity Champion Award for their former head of people and culture Ms Johanna Neilsen.

Cbus CEO David Atkin said that the awards were a testament to the hard work the Fund has put into developing a workplace culture that supports its people and ultimately enables the Fund to deliver strong retirement outcomes for members.

“We believe that workplace flexibility enables our team to bring their best selves to work and this is essential in helping us deliver for our members, employers and the broader superannuation system,” Mr Atkin said.

Mr Atkin said that Cbus has been evolving its flexibility policy since 2013 because the Fund is committed to the principles of equity, fairness and inclusion and we seek to embody these in our workplace policies, practices, culture and values.

_ “We understand that people have more going on in their lives than just work and flexible working arrangements acknowledge this while also having a positive impact on productivity and workplace culture._

“At Cbus, flexible working has been taken on in a range of ways – which is exactly as was intended!

“We have parents working flexibly so they can walk their kids to school or be there for pick up; we’ve had both mums and dads take time off to be the primary caregivers for their new children; and we have staff work flexibly so they can care for relatives or contribute to community groups or participate in sporting activities.”

Cbus supports the view that flexible work should be seen as a normal part of workplace culture which is available to all genders and for people at all stages of their working lives who would like to work flexibly for any reason.
